I think I can get a refund. How can I get it?
Before you can get this refund a tax return has to be filed. An overview of the tax return preparation process can be found here.
After submitting your tax return the tax authorities will have to respond. That usually takes approximately 3 months.
If the tax authorities agree with the filed tax return, you will receive the calculated refund on your bank account around the time they impose the Tax Assessment. If something went wrong, an objection may be required to get (a part of) your refund.
Should this Tax Assessment be only a Preliminary Tax Assessment, then the tax authorities will at a later stage impose a Final tax Assessment. The period for this Final Tax Assessment is 3 years, so that can take a while.
